Today’s yet another day at work.. Work is as usual the same… Boss is not here so things are more relax :) Besides doing my budget for the department accounts next year, today I’m basically free. Tim ajak me for a really nice lunch in one of the manager’s hse, whom is celebrating Hari Gawai today! So we went…

Her house is actually near mine.. And her house is REALLY prettily decorated with roses. I mean it, EVERYTHING is decorated with the theme of rose such as the flowers, the vase, her table cloth, and those small decorative items. Very flowery. Typical English suburb interior design.

And words could not fairly compliment her food. The Sarawak laksa was heavenly~~ K. Silia made a joke saying that “It’s all pork pork pork”. Hehehe. Well I love it. Her char siew is fat-less (okay, I choosed the fatless one) and satay was as good as the Satay Kajang. Plus she cooked everything on her own, makes it even more tastier. :)

So now i’m in office, still thinking about lunch. Sigh. Haha. Back to work~!

After the train trip from Butterworth to Bangkok… a total journey of 19 hours (4pm-11am) and then another 12 hours of bus trip (6.45pm – 7am) to Chiang Rai…

Well, WE’RE IN THAILAND BABY!! Wooo hoooo!

******
On the day before trip
Kul: I’m gonna wash my hair in the train lah.
Me: Hmm. (Waiting for her to make it a joke)
Kul: -quiet-
Me: Ohhhhhh. So u r not joking laa!
Kul: Ha? Train got no shower rooms??? Toilet lehh??
Me and Bismo: Hahahhahaah
*******

Sorry Kul, just have to post this conversation. Still damn funny. :P

Well the first thing we did when we reach Chiang Rai is… MANDI! Hahaha… Kong put us up in his aunt’s place and there is hot water for us to shower!!!! One scary part is the hot shower is powered by liquified petroleum gas! (Imagine if explode @_@) Since Josh was the only one who actually bought insurance, he went to mandi first. Heheh. He’ll be first to try alot of things out. (The insurance package covers quite a lot u know.. not worth it if we don’t use it :P )

At 5pm just now, Mr Zul, our RACUTP advisor reached Chiang Rai safely! It is not very easy to find halal food in Chiang Rai but we managed to do so for him and Chester :D I’m hoping to taste tomyam here.. but so far takder oso… :( They have the weird weird meatball soup la… me no likey :(

Ok lahh.. gotta logoff.. Wanna go checkout the roti canai outside… i bet everyone will gain weight after we go bek.. we eat eat eat so much nee…. Btw, onlining here is damn cheap oso… 1 hour = 12 baht! Wowie!

Be back soon~~ see yah!

This was what I wrote last time… dated September 18, 2006. Hehe. Thought it is nice to share a recipe with everyone.

Dong Pou has always been a major hangout place for me, Sammy, Esther and occasionally Mei Ling.. We go there almost twice a week.. according to Sammy, they sell the authentic dim sum, unlike some commercialised dim sum shop.. eat here feel more “OOMPH” than the rest.. haha.. dunno ar.. but Dong Pou is smaller and not so noisy.. hence it’s a good place to talk. And dim sum here is so cheap. Oh well.
For me, if I dun eat my woo kok (read the encyclopedia to know what it is) and egg tarts, then it doesn’t feel like i’m eating dim sum.. Maybe i repeated this a tad too frequent that Sammy actually made woo kok for me. Wahhhh…
I woke up late yday tho we had plans to make woo kok. Sammy took out the “family secret” recipe.. hahaha.. we went to the wet market to buy all we need… only at around 1 plus we started making our woo kok…
ingredients
The ingredients needed are:
- 640g glutinous rice flour
- 120g prawn (cut into dices)
- 300g pork/chicken marinated with char siew sauce(cut into dices)
- 7 or 8 pieces of big mushroom (cut into dices and marinated wif garlic oil)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 clove of garlic
- 100g cooking oil
- 3 teaspoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of soda bicarbonate
- 1 bowl of mixed peas-corn-carrot
- 5 tablespoon of soya sauce
mushroom and prawn..
Fry the garlic till golden brown. Then add mushroom. Fry until the mushroom is browner and then add the prawn in.
mushroom+prawn+pork
Add the pork/chicken in. Throw the mixed vege in too.. Add in the soya sauce too. Add to your liking.. some people may like it sweet and some salty.. i like it just nice :D
wu kok's fillings
It’s cooked!!
yam
Now we make the outer layer.. cut the yam and steam it.. When it’s soft, take it out to cool. Then use hot boiling water and pour it on the wheat flour. The amazing part of this flour is it won’t dilute the mixture, it will thicken and stick all of it together. You will see a transparent-ish dough.. Leave it to cool too.. when both are cooled, mix them together and knead them into a dough.
the unfried wu kok
Then you can start making the woo kok. Take some of the dough and roll it into a ball. Flatten it and put some fillings in it.. then shape it into what u see in the pic.. It’s not very easy cuz the dough is VERY VERY soft… Once done, you can fry it. But not for long, cuz both the fiillings and outer layer is already cooked.
done!
Yummy! The End!

Last week was one of the rare weekends where you can see my roomie around.. hehe.. And she ajak us for a makan-makan trip in Ipoh.. in this place called Wooley.. I’ve been there with Tim and Clement but I seriously can’t remember the way. It was raining when we reach there… the place is AWESOME! Feels like I’m in Penang cuz there’s SO many variety of food.. Frank took a few pics of the food we ate..

Ice Kacang
Best Ice Kacang in Ipoh!

That’s not all of it but Frank didn’t take anymore pics.. We had fried egg + oh-chien (fried egg + oyster) and satay ayam. Me and Leesh got tamjiak and ordered an ice kacang for dessert. Our stomach is full to bursting… Kul said she could eat summore, but she didn’t order anymore.

Would love to go there again. :D

Wonder how one thing links to another, which doesn’t make sense at the end of the day?

Alright, I’m crapping.

Lets get back to business. Last Saturday I went to Ipoh wif my friends, known as Spanky, Kool and Leesh. The fun started when Spanky told me he had 50% off anything in Gior (under the total of RM 200). I immediately went on the mission to find a shirt to buy (I’m a sucker for discounts). Spanky, Leesh and me found something to buy and the bill came up to a lowly RM79.

Woo hooooo.

After buying several other stuff, I decided that I want a drink from Coffee Bean. (U guys MUST try their Espresso Chip Ice Blended! It’s awesome! ) And so after buying it, we left straight to our mystical Notroh Woods.

*Handphone music plays*

Me: Lo?
Guy: Is this Miss Lim Qi Hua?
Me: Yeah, (suspicious) who’s this?
Guy: I’m calling from Coffee Bean.

Hmm. At first I thought it was a joke. Well, HOW wud they know my details! Oh well, apparently, instead of debiting my account (using the Coffee Bean card), they accidentally minus-ed it. And since I bought a drink just now, my account is apparently a riduculous negative 4.40 bucks.

Kool persuaded me to go back to Jusco to settle up this matter, which I was so ready to leave it to the next time (to settle). Mind u, we’ve already reach the edge of Ipoh town, anytime to turn back to Lumut. Plus to go back there I’ll waste almost half an hour of time.

And so we went.

Maybe it was a sign from God, but when we reach Jusco, we immediately found a car park. PLUS it’s just opposite Coffee Bean. Haha.. I made up my mind to give them a piece of my mind, like it or not!

Me: I WAS THE GIRL U CALLED JUST NOW.
Assistant Manager: Ooh, so U are the one! Wait yea.
Me: -muka masam-

The guy who made the error came and apologize profusely. I started off lashing at him like an angry dog, but then I simmered down after awhile. The guy DID look terribly sorry about it. Perhaps he did get a hefty scolding from his boss just now. Hehe.

So as they were correcting my account, I asked.
Me: So, is there any refund for me, coming all the way back?
*CB* guy: Yes yes, u can have free coffee. -still looking apologetic-
Spanky: (whispered) Ask if can get two coffee instead.
Me: Can I have two coffee?
*CB* guy: Yes of cuz.

Hehe. And here this guy go thinking that his misery is over, Spanky suddenly had his eye for a bagel. Poppy Seed Bagel with Cream Cheese. Oooo, cream cheese…this greatly interest me. :) And so I asked again, can I have this Poppy Seed Bagel too? The guy looked at us, shocked and speechless, but oh well, he reluctantly agreed.

Wahahahaha.

After all of us gotten what we wanted, we left. Tee hee. Instead of losing 22 bucks, I now got back my CF card value PLUS 2 free drinks AND a bagel. Hehe. Me likey freebies. :P

This semester is the least time that I’ve been to Ipoh. So when Tim came to UTP on last week and wanted to hangout in Ipoh, I agreed almost immediately. Haha. Desperado siut.

Anyways, I msged him when I was leaving UTP, saying I’ll be reaching around 11. The journey to Ipoh was uneventful. Few bumps here and there, nothing much.

Tim said to go straight to Casuarina and had given me a room number to go to. So I went and I found him and the other guy, Chia Ming half asleep. Totally obscene, seeing two guys in their half-messed up hair and clothes everywhere, and do i detect a hint of cologne somewhere?

Kidding la. Tim will kill me if I say this is true. ^_^

Well, Tim was already awake when I reached there and no surprise, my sms before leaving campus was his wake-up alarm. Hahah.. Tim was not feeling well.. nono, I should say, he is very sick cuz he’s popping pills as if it is sweets and drinking cough syrup as if it’s coke …into his body.. So we went to Jusco to have lunch. Had Secret Recipe’s set lunch.. heh. The reason I ordered the set lunch is to have the walnut brownies.. SR’s walnut brownies is the BEST brownies I’ve ever had.. dripping wet with hot chocolate, the brownie looked absolutely delish! Despite our warning and concern about Tim’s health, he stilllll ordered his fav Lamb Stew. Aih. I guess cravings beats everything else. Like how I crave for the brownies as well. Heh.

When we left SR, all our stomach is bursting. I think I can feel the food in my trachea, seriously! Next time remind me to control with my cravings so I won’t go near SR. Perhaps sushi next time, si?

Then we walked around, and I bought a new earphone! I have been wanting to get a new earphone since I “exchanged” my earphones wif Audrey’s headphones and I forgot to change it back when I left Intel. In search for a new earphone, I found this Sony earphones that comes with a neck chain! Since Jusco does not have a variety of earphones, I guess I got lucky that I found something I liked. Kinda reminds me of my Creative earphones, except the material is not as rubberish as the Sony ones.

Tim was feeling very sleepy, so we went to sit down in the food court. Unfortunately it is a Saturday, and everywhere else is so packed and hot! The Ipoh Town Council should perhaps start considering having a NEW shopping mall, something as cool as Gurney Plaza or Queensbay Mall. Ha.. here I go again, Penang this and that…

And so when it’s time for us to enter the cinema, Tim said “WAH, the popcorn smells sooooo nice!” Heh. Actually i was kinda tempted to buy, but on the other hand, I don’t want to “tempt” Tim cuz he can’t actually eat it, or as according to his health consultant of the day, Chia Ming. Hahah..

Sunshine was surprisingly a good movie, despite the lame name and unknown actors (except Michelle Yeoh). A short recap on the movie: The movie projects the future of mankind from a physics-based atheistic perspective. The whole idea abt the movie is if Sun dies, what would actually happen? Extinction of mankind? So who saves mankind? Will they survive?

OR in simple words, it’s a mixture of Armageddon + Alien + Deep Impact. As I told my sister, the cool part of the movie is that they managed to save the planet. The cooler part is that everyone dies in the movie. I know, I sound cynical but this type of movie, everyone must die onli shiok la. ^_^ The OST for the movie is excellent, made me teared at several scenes, particularly the ending when the main character’s sister played his last video sent back to Earth.

And then straight after that, we went to catch another movie, Wild Hogs. U know, from such a “wow” movie to a supposedly humourous movie, I felt that WH is not that funny. A little slapstick at times. However, I guess it is just me thinking that way, because some idiots were laughing their heads off at MOST of the scenes, some funny, some not. It is irritating when you have to endure 1 and a half hrs of “WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” and sometimes I’m laughing not because it’s funny, but because of the silly “WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA”.

Chia Ming lead the way to Medan Gopeng after the movies. As for me, I finally found the way to Medan Gopeng after studying here for 4-fricking-years! And to my surprise, it is actually VERY near Jusco! Ha.. well, at least now i know. :)

This post is dedicated to Tim.. I’m so glad he came to UTP since it’s been a LOOOOOOONG time since we last met. I jsut wished he could stay longer, cuz he have to leave on Sat night itself. :( Poor him, he came to UTP in less than 3 days and then have to go back to work on Sunday. Dang Petronas. But I must say I enjoyed his company as much as the outing on Saturday.. We’ll do it again next time okies? ^_^

Current track: My Chemical Romance – I Don’t Love You

No, I’m not being a braggart to myself… wishing myself happy bday in advance… Yday was quite a day… It started with me changing my ticket back to JB from Thursday to Saturday so I could go clubbing with the rest of my colleagues on Friday. Thanks a lot to Audrey for accompanying me to the bus station, calling up the bus company and taking my jacket when my…. …. …. oh well, let’s just skip this part.

I promised to bring nesha and daarsh for Nandos in the Bayan Lepas Airport.. Ooh..how cool is it.. to eat in the airport..! :) Parked my car.. went down searching for Nandos… Yummy yummy but I thought the bread was SOOO HUGE!

Then the bus company guy called and said there’s someone who wanted my ticket but he will need my ticket in order to sell it. So I brought both of them for a jalan-jalan session… and then… DANG! We saw the jam heading towards the island is super duper jam!! Oh well, to kill time, we had a slow drive and pass the ticket to the company… went KFC awhile… siap go buy credit for my DIGI… then only headed back to the island…

Went up the lift to our apartment… and when I opened the door… “SUPRISE!!!!” OH MY GAWD. I was soooooo shocked!!! My hsemates bought me a cake and waiting for me to come back… hahahaha.. to think that I brought them jalan-jalan in the mainland summore…

Daarsh: Oit, u know, it’s so hard to bring u back home! U asyik thinking of going Carrefour la… Old Town la…
Me: (Laughing) How wud I know ma? I just wanted to avoid the jam…

Hahaha.. seriously. It was really sweet of them to go buy a cake to celebrate my bday… Daarsh sed they did it yday because today she’s going back Ipoh already, so she won’t be around. I’m so touched by it … :D

Pictures of the cake…… :D
